Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris (born October 20 1964) was an American politician, attorney and vice president of United States. She is the first woman to hold the vice presidency and the highest-ranking female official in U.S history. She is a member of Congress and a former senator from California. Harris was born in Oakland, California. She graduated from Howard University as well as the University of California Hastings College of the Law. After establishing her career as an Alameda County District Attorney, Harris was recruited to San Francisco District Attorney's Office. Later she became the City Attorney of San Francisco. In 2003 she was elected San Francisco's district attorney. In 2010 Harris was appointed Attorney General for California. Harris was elected again in 2014. Harris served as the junior United States Senator from California between 2017 until 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Martinez in 2016's Senate election to become the 2nd African American woman and first South Asian American senator to be elected to the United States Senate. As senator, she fought for healthcare reform and federal de-scheduling of cannabis, a path towards citizenship for immigrants without a legal status, the DREAM Act, a ban of assault weapons and progressive tax reform. She is best known for her sharp questions to Trump administration officials in Senate hearings.
